India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki estimates only to produce 60% of the normal production due to a supply constraint of electronic components due to the semiconductor shortage situation.

The company is expecting an adverse impact on vehicle production in October 2021 in both Haryana and its contract manufacturing company, Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) in Gujarat, the company said in a statement to BSE.

“Though the situation is quite dynamic, it is currently estimated that the total vehicle production volume across both locations could be around 60% of normal production,” the company said.

Even last month in September, the company cut the production up to 60%.

Maruti Suzuki India has two plants in Gurugram and Manesar in Haryana. Both plants have a manufacturing capacity of 15.80 lakh units, while the Suzuki owned Gujarat plant has a production capacity of five lakh units, taking the total capacity to 20.80 lakh units.

In terms of monthly production, the carmaker can produce as many as 1.73 lakh units. Going by the estimation, the carmaker is likely to produce about 103,800 units in October 2021.
