Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has announced a significant leadership reshuffle, appointing Ashish Gupta as Brand Director of Skoda India and Nitin Kohli as Brand Director of Volkswagen Passenger Cars. The change, effective from 1st May 2025, reflects the company’s growing emphasis on nurturing Indian leadership for global automotive brands operating in the country. Both appointments mark a clear move to localise decision-making and align brand strategy more closely with market realities.
Ashish Gupta steps into his new role at Skoda after leading Volkswagen Passenger Cars in India for five years. With over two decades of experience in the automotive sector, including 12 years within the Volkswagen Group, Gupta is expected to focus on strengthening Skoda’s presence through network expansion, enhanced customer engagement, and sharper brand positioning. He takes over from Petr Janeba, who concludes his India tenure and returns to the parent company in the Czech Republic.
In parallel, Nitin Kohli, who previously oversaw sales and operations at Audi India, will now lead Volkswagen in the country. Kohli has spent over 12 years with the group, bringing a background in strategic planning and business development that the company hopes will support Volkswagen’s next phase of growth.
