Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has formally added British luxury marque Bentley to its India portfolio effective from 01 July 2025. This marks a strategic extension of the Group’s presence in the country’s premium automotive space and positions SAVWIPL as the importer, distributor and service provider for Bentley across India. A new business unit Bentley India has been formed under the SAVWIPL umbrella to manage the brand’s operations in the country, including all sales, marketing and after-sales services.
Bentley India will begin its retail operations through dealerships in Bengaluru and Mumbai, with New Delhi expected to follow soon. These showrooms will cater to the ultra-high-net-worth segment, showcasing Bentley’s hallmark of British craftsmanship, personalisation, and performance. The Group has appointed Abbey Thomas as Brand Director of Bentley India, tasking him with leading the company’s strategy and operations. His prior experience in the Indian luxury vehicle market is expected to support Bentley’s positioning and growth in a competitive but growing segment.
Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO, SAVWIPL, noted that India’s appetite for premium cars continues to grow and that Bentley’s entry under SAVWIPL would allow the brand to leverage local insights and strengthen customer touchpoints.
The development comes at a time when India’s ultra-luxury car segment, though niche, is seeing steady growth, driven by rising income levels, new wealth creation and demand for exclusivity. For Bentley, which has had a presence in India for over twenty years through various import channels, this formalised structure under a local group is likely to improve operational efficiency, customer engagement and after-sales support.
