Skoda Auto has achieved a significant manufacturing milestone in India with the production of over 500,000 cars from its state-of-the-art facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. This milestone coincides with Škoda Auto’s 130th anniversary globally and its 25th year in India—marking not just a production achievement but a significant moment in the brand’s journey of growth, innovation, and localisation.
Notably, the brand recorded its highest-ever monthly sales in March 2025, delivering 7,422 units—a reflection of rising domestic demand and strong customer affinity.
Celebrating this achievement, Andreas Dick, Board Member for Production and Logistics at Skoda Auto a.s., said, “Reaching the milestone of 500,000 cars produced in India is a proud testament to our strategic vision of unwavering commitment to India and operational excellence. By nurturing local engineering talent and embedding global manufacturing processes, we’ve built an ecosystem that is agile, scalable, and meets the highest international standards.”
Piyush Arora, CEO & MD, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, added, “It is not just about manufacturing 500,000 cars, but building and nurturing 500,000 connections. Each vehicle represents European engineering, high-quality standards, and trust from our customers. This milestone belongs as much to our customers as it does to our employees.”
Škoda’s India journey, which began with the launch of the Octavia in 2001, has evolved into a robust portfolio featuring legacy models like the Octavia, Laura, Superb, and Kodiaq, alongside newer favourites such as the Kushaq, Slavia, and the recently launched sub-4-metre SUV, Kylaq. The brand has built more than just cars; it has created an emotional bond with Indian customers, offering technologically advanced and safety-focused vehicles tailored to local preferences.
Beyond domestic sales, Škoda India is also fuelling the Group’s global aspirations. The company's India-based manufacturing now supports Škoda’s international expansion, with parts and components from India being assembled at the Group’s new plant in Vietnam. This facility will locally manufacture the Kushaq and Slavia for the Vietnamese market, reinforcing India’s position as a strategic export hub for Škoda’s global supply chain.
