Stellantis and Valeo have taken a major step forward in their shared circular economy strategy with the launch of two new remanufactured automotive components: a reconditioned LED projector headlamp and a refurbished infotainment display. Announced at the Rematec Trade Fair in Amsterdam on 8 April 2025, this development marks a new phase in their ongoing collaboration, which is focused on extending product lifecycles while reducing environmental impact.
The new remanufactured LED headlamp is the first of its kind to be made in Europe and will be integrated into the Stellantis aftermarket range under the SUSTAINera REMAN label. It will first be available for the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 models, followed by the Peugeot 508, by the end of the first half of 2025. The headlamp retains up to 50% of materials from end-of-life parts, including valuable components like the LED module, and offers a carbon footprint reduction of up to 70% compared to a newly manufactured unit. These parts are built at Valeo’s facilities in Chrzanow, Poland and Angers, France, both of which are being strengthened through this initiative.
Also unveiled was a remanufactured infotainment display, developed at Valeo’s Circular Electronics Lab in Nevers, France. The display is designed for use in a range of Stellantis models including the Peugeot 308, Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross, DS3 Crossback, Opel Grandland X, Corsa and Mokka. Available from June 2025, the display joins the SUSTAINera range, which already includes thousands of part numbers across multiple categories.
Stellantis and Valeo previously collaborated on the remanufacturing of a windshield-mounted camera, launched in 2023. This new expansion into electronics reflects a broader effort to reduce waste and support decarbonisation targets. Stellantis is aiming to become the first carmaker to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2038, while Valeo’s CAP 50 programme targets carbon neutrality by 2050. Both companies see remanufacturing as a central strategy in achieving these long-term sustainability goals.
With more than 40 years of experience in remanufacturing mechanical components, Valeo already produces around one million remanufactured products annually and aims to double this figure by 2030. Stellantis, through its SUSTAINera label, offers a wide range of refurbished parts including electric vehicle batteries, starters, clutches, electronic control units and now, advanced lighting and multimedia systems.
