Magenta Mobility has appointed Sujit Cherian as its new Chief Strategy Officer in a development that signals the company’s firm intent to strengthen its role in India’s clean energy transition. With over 25 years of experience in corporate strategy, investment banking, and financial planning, Sujit steps into the role at a time when the electric mobility sector is rapidly expanding and evolving. His arrival underscores the seriousness with which Magenta views its long-term position in the industry.

Sujit is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has previously been instrumental in transforming LEAP India, where he held the same role of Chief Strategy Officer. Under his strategic guidance, LEAP’s valuation reportedly jumped from INR 150 crore to INR 5,000 crore, a sharp rise that reflects his ability to drive financial and operational transformation. His professional journey includes senior leadership roles across Bravia Capital, Rent Alpha, Go Air, Jet Airways, and the Taj Group under the Indian Hotels Company. Across these organisations, he led mergers and acquisitions, structured financial strategies, and scaled up operations across sectors such as logistics, aviation, and financial services.

Maxson Lewis, Managing Director and CEO, Magenta Mobility, stated that Sujit’s presence would be essential in accelerating Magenta’s work towards creating sustainable electric vehicle infrastructure and clean energy solutions across India. These comments reflect a sense of urgency and intent from the company as it aims to contribute meaningfully to the country’s broader green ambitions.

Sujit expressed optimism about the opportunity and noted that he was joining Magenta at a transformative moment for both the company and the wider mobility landscape in India. He emphasised his alignment with Magenta’s vision of delivering clean and smart mobility through innovative models backed by strong financial planning.
