Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has reported a significant shift in customer preferences, with sunroof-equipped vehicles now making up 53.2% of its overall sales in FY2024-25. This trend, along with a remarkable 68.5% contribution from SUVs to Hyundai’s domestic sales, underscores the rising demand for premium features and the brand’s growing dominance in the SUV segment.
The SUV share has grown substantially from 63.2% in the previous fiscal, driven by Hyundai’s diverse and tech-rich portfolio, which includes models like the EXTER, VENUE, CRETA, ALCAZAR, TUCSON, and the IONIQ 5. These models continue to resonate with Indian consumers seeking style, safety, and innovation.
Catering to these evolving preferences, Hyundai now offers sunroofs in 12 of its 14 models and continues to enhance its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) offerings. ADAS-equipped variants contributed 14.3% of overall sales in FY2024-25, more than double the 6.7% share in the previous fiscal year. ADAS is currently offered in nine models, signalling Hyundai’s push toward mainstreaming safety technologies.
Further amplifying customer choice, Hyundai’s portfolio includes a comprehensive mix of powertrains—Petrol, Diesel, Turbo Petrol, CNG, and Electric—paired with transmission options ranging from manual to iVT, AT, AMT, and DCT. This flexibility ensures a tailored driving experience for a wide range of preferences.
Commenting on the performance, Tarun Garg, Whole-Time Director and Chief Operating Officer, HMIL, said, “FY2024-25 has been a landmark year for Hyundai Motor India. The fact that two out of every three vehicles sold by us in India was an SUV is a testament to our deep understanding of Indian customers and our commitment to delivering innovation, safety and style. The doubling of ADAS variant contribution and growing popularity of sunroof-equipped models reflects the rising aspirations of our customers and their readiness to embrace global technologies.”
