Suzuki Motorcycle India has formally commenced work on its second manufacturing plant by laying the foundation stone at IMT Kharkhoda in Haryana. Spread across 100 acres, with 25 acres earmarked for manufacturing and an equal area planned as green space, the facility is expected to play a vital role in the company’s expansion within India.
Suzuki’s decision to invest in Kharkhoda is aligned with the Indian government's push to attract global investments and strengthen industrial infrastructure in emerging zones. The new plant is expected to create employment for around 2,000 people, contributing to regional development and the broader ‘Make in India’ initiative. It also represents a conscious effort by Suzuki to integrate sustainability into its operations, with the planned use of energy-efficient technologies and lean manufacturing systems.
Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India highlighted that the plant reflects the company’s intention to grow with the Indian market and its communities. He emphasised the importance of supporting the brand’s expanding customer base while also improving service delivery and supply chain efficiency. The investment is not only about increasing production capacity but also about embedding Suzuki’s global sustainability vision into its Indian operations.
