SWITCH Mobility has flagged off the first 10 electric buses from a 100-unit order to Mauritius marking a key step in India's commitment to clean transport exports and strategic bilateral cooperation. The dispatch forms part of a special Government-to-Government gift from India to Mauritius reinforcing diplomatic ties while advancing the shared goal of sustainable mobility. The ceremonial event held in Mauritius was attended by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam, along with the Indian High Commissioner and several dignitaries from both nations.

Manufactured at SWITCH Mobility’s advanced facility in Chennai, the EiV12 buses are purpose-built for short to medium-range urban travel. Each bus can seat up to 45 passengers and comes equipped with an array of safety and efficiency-focused features including a fire detection and suppression system, intelligent telematics and a dual-gun charging setup optimised for quick turnaround at depots. The buses are powered by floor-mounted LFP batteries contributing to a lower centre of gravity and better on-road stability, essential for stop-start city transport conditions.
The vehicles were supplied through an open tender facilitated by Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) in India. SWITCH’s EiV12 buses were chosen for their blend of global design, Indian engineering and practical suitability for urban transport. Their deployment is expected to play a central role in the electrification of Mauritius’ bus fleet while helping reduce the island’s carbon footprint.
RG Venkataraman, Chief Commercial Officer at SWITCH Mobility, stated that the partnership supports Mauritius’ clean transport goals while proving SWITCH’s ability to deliver technologically robust, user-friendly solutions for urban public mobility. The project also sets the groundwork for future collaborations as both countries continue to align on sustainable development goals.
