
Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), in partnership with Guidance Tamil Nadu, hosted a key industry event in Chennai titled ‘Unveiling India’s New Automotive Hub: Where Wheels of Progress Turn’ on 20th March 2025. The event headlined Tamil Nadu’s growing importance in India’s automotive and electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem and brought together government officials, industry leaders, and key stakeholders for focused discussions on investment and policy direction.
Dr TRB Rajaa, Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu, reaffirmed the state’s vision to lead India’s mobility transformation with a focus on sustainable and inclusive growth. He stated that Tamil Nadu is not only attracting investments but is also building the future of mobility by leveraging its skilled workforce and pro-industry policies. He stressed the importance of clean energy, smart manufacturing, and women’s empowerment in shaping the state’s development path.
Shradha Suri Marwah, President of ACMA and CMD of Subros Ltd, noted that Tamil Nadu is now home to over 400 automotive component manufacturers and has become a destination of choice for both domestic and international automotive companies. She highlighted that collaborative events like this are important to align government and industry goals for future growth.
Darez Ahamed, Managing Director of Guidance Tamil Nadu, officially declared Thoothukudi as ‘India’s New Automotive Hub’. He presented the state's focused strategy on electric vehicle production, partnerships between industry and academic institutions, and its supportive infrastructure aimed at attracting sustained investment in the sector.
One of the discussions was a session with senior representatives of VinFast Auto Ltd. Moderated by Vinnie Mehta, Director General of ACMA, the conversation included Sang Yu Won, Head of Purchasing, and Prakalathan Tirupathi, Project Head, VinFast India. The executives spoke about VinFast’s strategic commitment to electric mobility and identified Tamil Nadu as central to their future in India. They also outlined their expectations from the Indian supplier ecosystem and noted the importance of building strong local partnerships.
