Tata Motors has launched the new version of its premium hatchback, the Altroz, with a starting introductory price of INR 6.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The updated model brings in new styling elements, more technology, and a wider selection of powertrains and transmissions, reinforcing Tata’s commitment to offering variety within the compact car segment.

The 2025 Altroz is offered in five variants, Smart, Pure, Creative, Accomplished S, and Accomplished+ S, and is available in petrol, diesel, and CNG formats. The base 1.2-litre Revotron petrol version starts at INR 6.89 lakh for the Smart variant, rising to INR 9.99 lakh for the Accomplished S. The iCNG-powered version ranges from INR 7.89 lakh to INR 11.09 lakh. Tata continues to offer the 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel, the only diesel option left in the premium hatchback segment, priced at INR 8.99 lakh for the Pure variant and INR 11.29 lakh for the Accomplished S.

This broad pricing strategy reflects Tata’s intent to cater to varied user groups, from first-time car buyers to fleet operators and premium hatchback customers. The addition of AMT transmission to lower variants and DCA to higher trims brings flexibility to urban buyers looking for automatic options at different price points. Sunroof availability on mid-level variants further supports Tata’s goal of democratising premium features.

Design updates such as a bold 3D grille, Luminate LED headlamps, and flush door handles add to the visual appeal, while the interiors now feature a tech-rich cabin with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, digital cluster, ambient lighting, and air purifier. Safety remains a strong point, with six airbags and ESP now standard across the range, reinforcing Altroz’s image as a secure offering in its class.

The new Altroz comes at a time when the premium hatchback segment is under pressure from compact SUVs. However, Tata Motors seems confident that a refreshed product, backed by multi-fuel flexibility and new transmission options, will help the Altroz retain relevance. The diesel engine, in particular, gives the Altroz a unique edge in long-distance drivability, especially for highway-focused buyers.
