Tata Technologies, a global leader in product engineering and digital services, has been appointed as a strategic supplier by Volvo Cars, marking a major milestone in the Indian company’s mission to engineer a software-defined future.

Renowned globally for its commitment to automotive safety and sustainability, Volvo Cars is accelerating its journey towards electrification, software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures, and intelligent in-car experiences. The automaker’s strategic vision is to offer customers the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe manner—and it is increasingly leaning on digital engineering partners to achieve that goal.

Under the new agreement, Tata Technologies will support Volvo Cars in key areas including product engineering, embedded software development, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) services. The company will deliver from its global network of delivery hubs—spanning Gothenburg (its Automotive Centre of Excellence), India, Romania, and Poland—bringing together deep automotive domain knowledge and scalable digital engineering capabilities.

This strategic partnership reflects Tata Technologies’ growing influence as a preferred engineering partner to global OEMs, particularly as the automotive industry transitions to next-generation vehicle platforms defined by software and clean propulsion systems. For Volvo Cars, the partnership enhances its global engineering capacity and leverages Tata Technologies’ ability to deliver agile, high-impact solutions across vehicle programs and digital ecosystems.

Warren Harris, CEO and MD of Tata Technologies, said,

“We are delighted by the trust that Volvo Cars has shown in our capabilities by providing newer opportunities to collaborate and scale our relationship. It demonstrates our commitment to delivering top-tier solutions in automotive software and digital engineering to customers worldwide. Aligned with our vision of engineering a better world, we're excited to support Volvo's ambitions of crafting intelligent vehicles that enhance safety, sustainability, and user experience.”
