TVS Motor Company has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a strategic partnership with Tata Power, one of India's largest integrated power company.

In a move that is planned to accelerate electric mobility in the country, the two companies have agreed to drive comprehensive implementation of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure (EVCI) across India, and deploy solar power technologies at TVS Motor locations. Together, the partnership aims to create a regular AC charging network and a DC fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers.

TVS iQube Electric customers would also get access to the widespread charging network by Tata Power through the TVS Motor customer connect app as well as the Tata Power EZ Charge app across India, said the company in a release.

Meanwhile, the two partners believe that solar energy will play an important role in addressing increasing concerns about global climate change developments. Towards that, they will also explore opportunities to use solar energy to power select TVS Motor locations in their journey towards sustainability.

Sudarshan Venu, Joint Managing Director, TVS Motor said the company has always been at the forefront of delivering green vehicles to its customers. “This collaboration with Tata Power marks yet another significant milestone towards enabling a greener future for the country. Our partnership will substantially enhance customer convenience through world-class fast-charging solutions,” he said.

Further, in sync with TVS Motor’s vision of electrification, Venu said the company envisages a wide and reliable charging infrastructure for two- and three-wheeler EV customers across India, powered by renewable sources of energy such as solar.

Through this collaboration, Tata Power will further leverage its expertise to enhance synergy between sustainable mobility and renewable energy integration resulting in the creation of robust EV charging ecosystem across India, said Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power.

TVS Motor, meanwhile, has reiterated its commitment to expand the presence of TVS iQube Electric in over 25 cities within the next few months from the current markets covering Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kochi, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Surat, Vizag, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad.
