Uber has announced an expansion of its intercity service extending its coverage to over 3,000 routes across India. This represents a 50 per cent increase in city-to-city connectivity and highlights the company’s focus on tapping into the growing demand for long-distance road travel. Alongside the expansion, Uber has introduced a limited-period Intercity Motorhome product in the Delhi NCR region offering riders a premium experience for outstation trips.

Uber reported strong year-on-year growth in outstation bookings, reflecting a shift in consumer behaviour towards road-based leisure and business travel. Popular routes over the past year included Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Agra, Bangalore-Mysore, Lucknow-Kanpur, and Ahmedabad-Vadodara, with rider demand peaking on weekends and during major festivals. Early mornings and mid-afternoon hours between 2 and 3 PM emerged as the most preferred departure times.
The newly launched Intercity Motorhomes are designed to elevate the outstation travel experience with features such as on-board entertainment, a microwave, mini-refrigerator, lavatory, and comfortable seating for four to five passengers. Each motorhome comes with a driver and a helper, providing the convenience of private travel with full-service amenities. Riders can also take advantage of standard Intercity features like advance booking via Reserve, multiple stop options, real-time tracking, and 24x7 support. This limited offering will be available for bookings from August 4, with trips running between August 7 and September 6.
