VinFast Auto India has signed its first banking partnership joining hands with HDFC Bank to provide financing solutions for both customers and its exclusive dealer network. The Memorandum of Understanding comes just months before the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer’s planned entry into the Indian market with its VF 6 and VF 7 models.

HDFC Bank will offer auto loans to customers and inventory financing for VinFast dealers. This approach is aimed at ensuring that both ends of the retail chain, supply and demand, are financially supported as the company rolls out its operations. The bank’s nationwide branch presence and strong digital infrastructure will allow VinFast to reach potential buyers not only in metropolitan cities but also in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets where EV adoption is gradually increasing.

Pham Sanh Chau, CEO, VinFast Asia, stressed that alongside product quality, financial accessibility would be key to encouraging more consumers to shift from internal combustion vehicles to EVs. By associating with HDFC Bank, VinFast gains the credibility of a well-established lending institution, which could help it secure trust in a competitive and still nascent EV market.

Arvind Vohra, HDFC Bank’s Group Head for Retail Assets, noted that offering convenient loan options for VinFast’s product range aligns with the bank’s broader retail lending strategy. The arrangement also reflects a growing recognition among financial institutions that EVs require tailored lending approaches given their higher upfront costs and emerging resale markets.
