Vietnamese EV-maker VinFast has begun local assembly in India with a new 400-acre facility in Tamil Nadu. It will make the VF 6 and VF 7 and employ up to 3,500 people.

Vietnam’s VinFast has commissioned its first EV assembly plant outside home turf in Tamil Nadu, India. Located in Thoothukudi, the 400-acre facility will initially assemble the VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs, with phase-one output pegged at 50,000 units annually (scalable to 1,50,000). The plant integrates body, paint, and assembly shops, and will employ 3,000–3,500 people directly. VinFast is setting up showrooms nationwide ahead of India launch.
