Vietnamese VinFast has formally entered the Indian market with the unveiling of its VF 6 Premium SUV. Showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the VF 6 introduces an approach to electric vehicle design that seeks balance between movement and calm, aligning with the company's design philosophy called “The Duality in Nature.” Designed in collaboration with Italy’s Torino Design, the VF 6 aims to reflect both dynamism in its form.

The VF 6 marks one of the earliest models created on VinFast’s dedicated electric platform. As the company expands its reach from Vietnam to markets across Asia, Europe, and North America, India is becoming a key focus. Pham Sanh Chau, CEO, VinFast Asia, described the VF 6 and VF 7 as game-changers, stating that these models will help push forward the adoption of EVs in India. VinFast’s presence at the expo also included indications of a future local manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, which reinforces its intent to serve Indian consumers with regionally built vehicles.

In Vietnam, the VF 6 has earned recognition as a car suited for first-time EV users and families. It was awarded titles such as “National car for beginner” and “Pioneering green car,” highlighting its reputation for accessibility and environmental focus. Its reception in Europe has also been favourable, with reviews noting its design, price point, and practicality for urban use.

In India, the VF 6 will face a market that is gradually warming to electric mobility. VinFast’s plan to invest in local production signals a long-term strategy rather than a short-term sales goal. The VF 6 is expected to appeal to new adopters of EVs in India, offering a package that combines aesthetics, user-friendliness, and everyday practicality. VinFast’s challenge will lie in converting interest into market share in a sector already crowded with domestic and international competitors.
