Volkswagen has slashed the price of the Tiguan R-Line by up to INR 3 lakh, bringing its effective cost down to INR 46 lakh. The move comes amid lukewarm demand just months after launch, despite the SUV’s strong features and performance credentials.

Volkswagen is offering a hefty discount of up to INR 3 lakh on the Tiguan R-Line, just three months after the SUV’s debut in April 2025. Originally priced at INR 49 lakh (ex-showroom), the model is now available at an effective price of INR 46 lakh, inclusive of cash benefits, exchange bonuses, and corporate schemes.

Despite packing a punch with a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 201bhp and 320Nm, paired with a seven-speed DSG and 4Motion all-wheel-drive, the Tiguan R-Line has struggled to gain traction in the market. Its 0–100kmph time of just over seven seconds and premium five-seater layout haven’t been enough to sway buyers in a segment skewed towards diesel powertrains and larger seven-seaters.

As a CBU (Completely Built Unit), the Tiguan R-Line’s pricing put it on the higher side of the segment. It does, however, come loaded with features such as a 12.9-inch touchscreen, 10.3-inch digital cockpit, matrix LED headlamps, nine airbags, Level 2 ADAS with 21 assist functions, ventilated massage seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

Interestingly, the more expensive and enthusiast-oriented Golf GTI (INR 53 lakh) sold out its first batch rapidly, highlighting the difference in market positioning and appeal.

With this significant price correction, the Tiguan R-Line now presents a stronger value-for-money proposition for buyers prioritising refinement, safety, and AWD dynamics in a five-seat premium SUV. Whether this move translates into higher sales remains to be seen.
