The Urban Cruiser Taisor is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Fronx

Toyota introduced the Urban Cruiser Taisor in India earlier this week, with prices starting at Rs. 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti Fronx-based model is offered with two engine options across five variants.

Of the two engine options that include the 1.2-litre, NA petrol motor and the 1.0-litre, turbo-petrol mill, the latter is offered exclusively with the Fronx in Maruti’s line-up. The Indian carmaker currently has a 90:10 sales ratio for the 1.2 and 1.0-litre engines, and the sales of the 1.0-litre versions are expected to pick up since it was introduced in the Taisor as well.

In terms of pricing, the new Toyota Taisor, in the 1.0-litre versions, is almost the same as the Fronx across the variant line-up apart from a Rs. 1,000 difference in the V MT dual-tone trim. Further, Toyota offers a warranty of three years or 1 lakh kilometres, while the Fronx gets a two-year or 40,000 kilometre warranty, thus enhancing the appeal of Toyota’s coupe SUV.
