Deepangshu Dev Sarmah

Deepangshu left us way too early. He would have turned 45 on September 18 with friends and relatives wishing him the very best on this special day. Instead, fate dealt us a cruel hand and he passed away in Dubai en route to Munich on Sunday.

To friends, he was just Dipu. Those who had known him for many years will recall a friendly, unassuming person who had a level of maturity way beyond his years. He was passionate about automotive journalism and all the advancements being made in technology.

As the Founding Editor of Mobility Outlook, Deepangshu was keen that it establish itself as a thought leader’s reference guide and pulled out all the stops towards making this a reality. As part of this effort, he would almost single handedly curate events where top leaders from the automotive industry would participate actively.

The most recent one was on software defined vehicles which was held in New Delhi on August 29 and turned out to be a resounding success. Deepangshu was delighted with the turnout and the team was confident that this would pave the way for other similar big ticket events. His passing has now left a void that will be difficult to fill.

At this trying juncture, our hearts go out to his wife, daughter, mother and brothers. He loved his family to bits and we can well imagine what they must be going through right now. Deepangshu, RIP.
