The new age EV manufacturing start-up, Ather Energy, on Wednesday said that the company witnessed a 292% increase in sales to 22,128 units during 2021.

A communication from the company said its vehicles so far cumulative clocked about 85.03 million km and saved about INR 14 crore on fuel cost, compared to equivalent riding on a petrol scooter.  

The majority of the distance was done in Bengaluru and Chennai due to the company’s early presence there, but new markets like Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad are catching up fast, the company said.  

Moreover, it subsequently saved almost 1.98 million kg of CO2 emissions by preventing about 1.8 million litres of petrol from being burnt in ICE scooters, the release added.
