BMW Group India Sales Record In 2023 mobility outlook

BMW Group India celebrated an unprecedented achievement with its highest-ever annual sales for 2023 across all three of its iconic brands - BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad. The luxury automaker delivered a total of 14,172 cars (BMW and MINI) and 8,768 motorcycles (BMW Motorrad), marking an impressive growth of 18% in both segments.

The annual performance was bolstered by robust sales in the fourth quarter, where BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad achieved their highest-ever sales - BMW 4,306 units (+41%), MINI 287 units (+54%), and BMW Motorrad 1,990 units (+3%).

BMW Group India's President, Vikram Pawah, expressed pride in the remarkable success, stating, “2023 has been a record-breaking milestone year for BMW Group India. All three brands – BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad – have delivered their highest-ever sales. We have the most desirable brands and luxurious products.'

In terms of brand-specific performance, BMW sold 13,303 units (+18%), while MINI contributed 869 units (+22%). The Luxury Class category, encompassing models like the BMW 7 Series, BMW i7, BMW X7, and BMW XM, exhibited a stellar growth of +88%. The BMW 7 Series earned the prestigious 'Premium Car Award 2024' at the Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) awards.

The Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) category recorded its best-ever sales, growing by +24%, with the new X1 leading the segment. The BMW 3 Series secured the position of the highest-selling sedan, capturing a 20% share in overall sales.

MINI India witnessed robust growth with 869 units sold, reflecting a commendable +22% increase. The locally produced MINI Countryman dominated sales, commanding a 55% share, while the electric MINI 3-Door Cooper SE doubled its sales, emerging as the second-highest selling MINI model.

BMW Motorrad India achieved impressive results with 8,768 units sold, demonstrating a +20% growth. The BMW G 310 models exhibited a notable growth of +19%, maintaining an 88% share in overall sales. Core bikes, available as completely built-up units, saw a remarkable growth of +33%, primarily driven by high-end GS adventure and RR sports segments.

The success story extended to BMW Group India's electric vehicle (EV) segment, where it continued to lead the luxury EV market for the second consecutive year. The BMW iX emerged as the highest-selling luxury electric vehicle in India, contributing to a three-fold growth in BMW Group Electric Vehicles (EV).
