BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new BMW R 18 Transcontinental at INR 31.50 lakh, ex-showroom, India, as a CBU unit.

Powered by an air/oil-cooled two-cylinder flat-twin 1,802cc engine paired to a 6-speed gearbox, the tourer produces 91 hp and maximum torque of 158 Nm. Interestingly, a reverse gear is available as an option.

The bike also gets three riding modes, ‘Rain’, ‘Roll’ and ‘Rock’, to suit individual rider preferences. In ‘Rain’ mode, throttle response is gentler and riding dynamics allow high safety over the slippery road surface. In ‘Roll’ mode, the engine offers optimum throttle response while riding dynamics achieve ideal performance on all roads. ‘Rock’ mode allows riders to tap into the full dynamic potential - throttle response is spontaneous and direct, while Automatic Stability Control allows a little more slip.

On the features side, it gets new adaptive LED headlights, a Marshall Gold Series Stage 2 sound system, six loudspeakers, and a booster. Meanwhile, on the safety side, it features active cruise control, automatic stability control, dynamic engine brake control, hill start control, keyless ride system and electronic cruise control as standard.

Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India, said, “This motorcycle will have an enormous appeal for motorcyclists who live for unforgettable cruising moments.”
