Automotive technology company, BorgWarner has secured a contract with a major global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to supply their 400V high voltage coolant heaters (HVCH) for the OEM's European light vehicle program.

Production for this HVCH technology is slated to begin in 2026, marking the second such contract with the global automaker within two months, encompassing various regions. This contract positions BorgWarner as a key global partner, offering versatile solutions to support the OEM's expanding battery electric vehicle (BEV) platforms.

The 400V HVCH boasts a modular design with high thermal power density, specifically engineered for heating both the battery and cabin of pure electric vehicles, all while providing a lightweight and compact solution that aligns with the OEM's reduced size and weight requirements.

This technology enhances heat transfer for faster charging and incorporates a low switching frequency to optimize costs. Furthermore, it meets various packaging and safety requirements, including a redundant switch to control temperature and an automatic shutoff in the event of an error, preventing thermal incidents.

Joseph F. Fadool, President and General Manager of BorgWarner Emissions, Thermal, and Turbo Systems, said, 'We are pleased to provide our HVCH technology to this global OEM for their upcoming BEV platforms, further solidifying our longstanding and excellent relationship.'
