Bridgestone India has announced that it has trained 1,016 tyre fitters in nine different States under its 'Tyre Care Wala,' project which started in 2020.

Bridgestone India has partnered with Rubber, Chemical & Petrochemical Skill Development Council, National Skill Development Corporation and Skill India for the project, a release from the tyre maker said.

With this initiative, Bridgestone India intends to bring formal training and certification among tyre fitters across India who otherwise are part of an unorganised sector and never get formal opportunities to learn required techniques to enhance their skills as per market needs.

Bridgestone said that its training experts, in conjunction with the partners, designed the curriculum that covers tyres from across vehicle segments such as car, bus and truck.

Additionally, the latest product range in the markets, such as tubeless tyres, repairing technologies, processes and tools for such tyres, were also made a part of the training content.

In the second edition, Bridgestone India conducted more than 50 batches of 14 hours of classroom and practical training followed by assessment across Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nādu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.

Parag Satpute, Managing Director, Bridgestone India, said that having more skilled labour available for tyre repair and upkeep ensures good service on the road and helps enhance the tyre life.
