Gogoro Mobility Outlook

Gogoro Inc. has officially launched its battery swapping ecosystem and Smartscooters in India. Accompanying this milestone is the unveiling of Gogoro's first India-made Smartscooter, the CrossOver GX250.

Primarily targeting B2B customers in Delhi and Goa initially, Gogoro plans to extend its reach to Mumbai and Pune in the first half of 2024, with consumer availability anticipated in the second quarter of the same year.

Horace Luke, Founder and CEO, Gogoro, highlighted the pivotal role India could play in leading the shift to sustainable transportation. He stated, 'We are at the cusp of a dramatic change in the global urban transportation landscape, and with its more than 250 million mopeds and motorcycles India is well positioned to lead the shift to sustainable consumer and B2B transportation.'

Gogoro CrossOver Series

The CrossOver series, built on a redesigned all-terrain frame, promises increased rigidity, comfort, and a range of storage, riding, and customisation capabilities. Three models will be available in India: the CrossOver GX250, CrossOver 50, and CrossOver S. The CrossOver GX250 is available immediately, while the CrossOver 50 and CrossOver S are slated for shipping later in 2024.

Manufactured in Maharashtra, India, the CrossOver GX250 marks Gogoro's first Smartscooter made in India, featuring India-specific optimisations based on feedback from Gogoro pilot riders in the country.

The new EV is said to be optimised for various road conditions. The CrossOver GX250 adopts a newly developed all-terrain frame that provides increased rigidity for improved strength and stability. It boasts 176mm of ground clearance, the highest in Gogoro's current vehicle lineup.

The CrossOver GX250 utilises a 2.5 kW Direct Drive, offering a top speed of 60+kph and a certified claimed range of 111km. The new frame design enhances the durability of the suspension system, emphasizing comfort and stability.

On the design front, the CrossOver GX250 provides passenger riding space and storage options, accommodating various needs with a new mounting point expansion system while featuring 26 locking points. The scooter can leverage four cargo areas, including platform design headlight, foot, seat, and rear cargo space, easily adapting to most storage requirements.

Gogoro received certification for the CrossOver GX250 from India’s International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) in August, and in November, it became the first foreign two-wheel OEM recognised by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) for its EV financing programs, a press release from Gogoro stated.

Gogoro Battery Swapping

At the core of Gogoro's ecosystem is its open and interoperable battery swapping platform. The battery swapping has been certified by India’s International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), and in Taiwan, it supports nearly 600,000 riders with over 1.3 million smart batteries in circulation.

With more than 400,000 daily battery swaps and over 510 million total swaps to date, Gogoro's battery swapping has contributed to saving more than 785,000 tons of CO2 since its launch in 2015.
