Jeep India Launches Meridian At An Introductory Price Of INR 29.9 Lakh Ex-Showroom

The American SUV maker Jeep India on Thursday launched its three-row seven-seater SUV, the Meridian, at a starting introductory price of INR 29.9 lakh ex-showroom, India for the base Limited MT FWD variant.

The SUV will be available in five trim levels with two transmission and drivetrain options. The company aims to start the deliveries for the product by June this year.

Nipun J Mahajan, Head, Jeep Brand India, said, 'Our pricing reflects our intent to disrupt the segment and offer unmatched value for customers seeking a powerful, spacious, and sophisticated SUV.'

The 2.0L turbo-diesel engine is mated to a six-speed manual or a nine-speed AT, delivering a power output of 168Hp and 350Nm of torque with an option for an FWD or an AWD configuration.

The company claims that the vehicle can reach 100 kmph from zero in 10.8 seconds with a power to weight ratio of 95Ps/tonne and a top speed of 198 kmph.

The cabin of the vehicle features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster along with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Other amenities onboard include multi-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, powered front seats, leather upholstery with a perforated and quilted pattern and a nine-speaker audio system by Alpine, among others.

While on the safety side, it comes with more than 60 features as standard, including six airbags, ESC, EBD, ABS, Vehicle Drive Limiter, Active Yaw Control, Active rollover protection, engine drag control, along with traction control, hill start and descent control, selectable drive modes, and a 360-degree parking camera to name a few.

Built on the same unibody Daimler Chrysler/Mitsubishi GS architecture as the Compass, the new SUV is claimed to be 82% localised.

Roland Bouchara, CEO & Managing Director, Stellantis India, said, 'The product offensive that we started in 2021 continues with the launch of the Jeep Meridian as the 3rd product from our portfolio – Made in India followed by Grand Cherokee later this year.'
