KTM India is planning to launch its range of big-capacity motorcycles in the country. Word is that the company could introduce the 890 Duke and the 890 Adventure in the market by the end of this year or the first half of 2025. The launch of these motorcycles will mark KTM’s re-entry into the big bike market that’s currently dominated by Kawasaki, Triumph, and Ducati.

KTM has previously launched the 790 Duke in India which was met with a lukewarm response. While the bike was a proper thrill machine and quite entertaining to ride, questions about KTM’s ability to service the bike and make parts available lingered. After all, this was their first big bike for the market.

KTM India is expected to address these issues and make a stronger comeback with the launch of the 890 Duke and the 890 Adventure. We could also see the 1390 Super Duke or the 890 SMT make it to our shores if the response is good. That said KTM will only retail the big bikes in select big cities for now.

The 890 Adventure will also play a big role in boosting the big bike business for KTM India. Adventure motorcycles have proven to be ideal for tackling Indian road conditions and feature among top sellers for this reason.

KTM should look at launching the bikes at a competitive price, or better still, undercut the competition. Suzuki has already shown that this is possible by launching the V-Strom 800DE adventure bike at Rs 10.30 lakh, ex-showroom.
