Mahindra and Mahindra has announced that it has crossed the one lakh production mark for the popular SUV, Thar, in less than 2.5 years since production started.
Veejay Nakra, President – Automotive Division, M&M, said the SUV has captured the imagination and hearts of adventure and lifestyle enthusiasts alike.
In January this year, the company also launched the Thar in RWD variant. In this variant, the Thar gets a choice of both petrol and diesel engine options. The diesel variant is powered by a new D117 CRDe engine producing 117 hp and 300 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm, with manual transmission. Meanwhile, the gasoline variant of the RWD gets the mStallion 150 TGDi engine, producing 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm with automatic transmission.
The Thar 4X4 features the same 150 hp gasoline engine and a 2.2 litre diesel engine producing 130 hp and 300 Nm of torque.
