Maruti Suzuki Launches Swift S-CNG Range With Dual Independent ECUs

Powering the CNG variants of the Swift is the 1.2L K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine producing 77.49PS at 6,000rpm and max torque of 98.5Nm at 4,300 rpm.


Maruti Suzuki Swift S-CNG

Maruti Suzuki India on Friday launched the S-CNG variant of its Swift hatchback in two trim levels i- VXi at INR 7.77 lakh and ZXi at INR 8.45 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.

Powering the CNG variants of the Swift is the 1.2L K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine producing 77.49PS at 6,000rpm and max torque of 98.5Nm at 4,300 rpm. Maruti Suzuki India also claims a fuel efficiency of 30.9 kms/kg for the Swift S-CNG models.

According to a press release from Maruti Suzuki, the Swift S-CNG comes with dual interdependent Electronic Control Units (ECU) and an intelligent injection system to provide an air-fuel ratio that ensures superior performance with better savings.

Additionally, the Swift S-CNG has further enhancements with stainless steel pipes and joints to avoid corrosion and any leakage in the entire CNG structure. Integrated wire harnesses are used to eliminate short-circuiting, and a microswitch ensures that the vehicle is off and does not start during the CNG fuel filling process.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India, noted that the Swift brand has seen over 26 lakh customers over the years. 

He added that Maruti Suzuki now offers nine vehicles with factory-fitted S-CNG technology in the Indian market viz Alto, WagonR, Celerio, Dzire, Ertiga, Eeco, Super Carry, Tour-S and Swift.

Interestingly, the carmaker claims to have sold over one million units of its S-CNG vehicles so far, the release added.
