Has a 30-litre aluminium fuel tank

The BMW R 1300 GS Adventure has been unveiled and it is the more touring ready version of the R 1300 GS adventure motorcycle. The chief difference between the standard bike and the ‘Adventure’ is seen in its larger fuel tank and longer list of standard features.

Firstly, the R 1300 GS Adventure looks markedly different from the R 1300 GS and has a more boxy and functional design. It has more squared off edges, be it at the beak under the headlight, the fuel tank or the tail section. What stands out is the 30-litre aluminium fuel tank giving the bike an imposing presence, especially when viewed from the front.

In terms of features Dynamic Traction Control, radar based adaptive cruise control, front and rear collision warning and the optional new Automated Shift Assistant (ASA).

Powering the R 1300 GS Adventure is a 1,300cc, Boxer twin makes 145bhp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm at 6,500rpm. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox. There are four ride modes- Eco, Rain, Road and Enduro to temper the power delivery and adjust the traction control intervention levels.

The bike has a sheet metal main frame and aluminium lattice tube rear frame. This is suspended by BMW’s Telelever and Paralever EVO suspension units. The suspension can be electronically adjusted and Dynamic Suspension Adjustment or DSA comes as standard.

The BMW R 1300 GS Adventure is available in four variants-Basic, Triple Black, GS Trophy, Option 710 Karakorum. The bike should be launched in India in a few months.
