Oben EV Launches Rorr For INR INR 99,999 Ex-Showroom Mumbai

In the first phase, the company plans to launch the product in nine cities across seven states starting from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune Mumbai, Delhi, Surat, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.

The new age EV manufacturing startup, Oben EV, on Tuesday launched its debutante product, the Rorr e2W, at INR 99,999 ex-showroom, Mumbai, post FAME II subsidy.

Pre-booking to the vehicle starts from March 18, 2022, at INR 999, while the test drives will commence from May and the deliveries from July.

In the first phase, the company plans to launch the product in nine cities across seven states starting from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune Mumbai, Delhi, Surat, Ahmedabad and Jaipur.

Featuring an ARX chassis, the e-bike comes with an IP65 IPMS motor with a peak output of 10kW and a continuous power of 4kW and 62Nm of torque. 

Mated to a single-stage belt drive, the motor can propel the e2W from zero to 40kmph in three seconds, claimed the company.

The Rorr gets powered by an IP67 rated 4.4kWh LFP fixed battery giving the e2W a claimed range of 150 kms, 120kms and 100kms in ECO, City and Havoc drive modes respectively. Additionally, the company claimed to be using MHX technology for better heat management.

The company claims a charge time of one kilometre per minute with the proprietary 15A wall box charger, which it provides as standard. Furthermore, customers also get an onboard charger that can charge the bike from empty to full in two hours.

Dinkar Agrawal, Co-Founder, Oben Electric, stated that with the e-bike, customers can get access to 12,000 charging stations across India, for which it has partnered with several charging infrastructure providers. Besides, the company also plans to have its own network of 1,000 charging stations across nine cities as it expands its operations.

Targeted the age group of 18-35 years, the e2W comes with a driver alert system, theft protection and dual disc brakes. Moreover, the bike is connected to the Oben app, which provides the rider with driving details, including range, motor condition, and battery condition.

Available in three colour options- Electric Red, Magnetic Black and Voltaic Yellow, the bike comes with a three-year warranty on battery and motor with a three year free RSA support and one year free service.

Business Plans

At present, the company has a manufacturing plant spread across 3.5 acres in Bangalore to produce three lakh units per year. Going forward, it intends to invest INR 700 crore in enhancing its production capacity as it launches new products.

In the next two years, Oben aims to launch four products, including e-scooters, at one product every six months. Besides, it also plans to start its exports across ten international markets and create 3,000 direct jobs in India during the next five years.
