Orion Racing Team Unveils Latest E-Racing Car - Lemnos

The car will make its debut at the ‘Formula Student Austria 2022’ hosted at Austria’s Redbull F1 Racetrack in July 2022 and ‘Formula Student Germany 2022’ hosted at Germany’s Hockenheimring F1 Racetrack in August 2022.


Lemnos

Built under the mentorship of Godrej & Boyce, Orion Racing Team from K J Somaiya College of Engineering unveiled ‘Lemnos,’ their formula-style electric racing car. The name is derived from Greek mythology - meaning ‘the city of technology’.

The car will debut at the ‘Formula Student Austria 2022’ hosted at Austria’s Redbull F1 Racetrack in July 2022, and ‘Formula Student Germany 2022’ hosted at Germany’s Hockenheimring F1 Racetrack in August 2022 by the Team Orion Racing India.

Lemnos features the Emrax 228 MV motor controlled by UNITEK Bamocar D3-700 and has a maximum motor power of 100kW and a maximum motor rpm of 4,600, making the vehicle capable of reaching its maximum velocity of 90 kmph during acceleration event, the company claimed.

Launching the car, Anil G Verma, Executive Director and President, Godrej & Boyce, said, “The young engineering minds have been an inspiration to all of us given their passion, dedication, and originality that they showcased while designing and building Lemnos.” 

Dr Shubha Pandit, Principal, K J Somaiya College of Engineering, said, “We are proud of Team Orion Racing India for representing India on a global stage, and we wish them success in their pursuit of victory.” 

Interestingly, Godrej & Boyce has been associated with Orion Racing India since 2017, a press release from the racing team said.
