Tata Motors Bags Order For 65 EVs From Kerala State Electricity Board

The company will deliver 60 Tigor EVs and five Nexon EVs to the Kerala State Electricity Board as a part of a tender agreement.

Leading Indian vehicle maker, Tata Motors, announced that it has bagged a contract for 65 EVs, including 60 Tigor EVs and five Nexon EVs, as a part of a tender agreement with Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB).

According to the press release from the vehicle manufacturer, this order is part of a competitive pan India tender, floated by KSEB in line with the state’s vision ‘Go Green/Carbon Neutral’ by 2030.

The handover ceremony was organised today at Kanakakkkunu Palace, Trivandrum, in the presence of K Krishnankutty, Minister of Electricity, Antony Raju, Minister of Transport, Dr B Ashok, Chairman, KSEB and other senior government officials.

The Tigor EV is equipped with a 26-kWh high energy density Lithium-ion battery pack and gives a peak power output of 55 kW and a peak torque of 170 Nm and does 0 to 60 kmph in a 5.7 seconds.

The Nexon EV comes with a claimed range of 312 kms. It is equipped with a 129 PS permanent-magnet AC motor, powered by a high capacity 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.

The company claims a market share of 85% in the e4W space with a total sales of 15,000 EVs till date. To make EVs even more accessible to all, the OEM is closely working with other Tata Group companies, including Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Auto Components, Tata Motors Finance and Croma, to contribute to the faster adoption of EVs in India through its EV ecosystem called the 'Tata uniEVerse,' the release added.
