Tata Motors has launched the Altroz iCNG starting at INR 7.55 lakh, ex-showroom, with six variants.

Based on the company’s ALFA (agile, light, flexible and advanced) architecture platform, the car is powered by the 1.2L Revotron engine producing 73.5 PS and torque of 103 Nm. It comes with twin-cylinder CNG technology while a water capacity of 60 litres is placed below the luggage area. This is to ensure practical and usable boot space to CNG owners.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said  customers are increasingly choosing alternative fuel options for an economical and eco-friendly drive. With its wide availability and accessibility, CNG has gained lot of acceptance, he added.

“With the breakthrough of the twin-cylinder CNG technology and advances features, we are expecting more personal segment buyers to strongly consider this option. Our multi-powertrain strategy in the Altroz portfolio offers petrol, diesel, iturbo and iCNG for customers to choose from,” Chandra noted.

The Altroz iCNG gets a voice-assisted electric sunroof, wireless charger and air purifier. On the safety side, a microswitch keeps the car switched off at the time of refuelling while thermal incident protection uts off CNG supply to the engine and releases gas into the atmospherey.

Tata Motors started its CNG journey with the Tiago and Tigor and now has four models including the Altroz and Tiago NRG.
