Tata Punch Sub-Compact SUV Launched At INR 5.49 Lakh

The Punch, which is the first SUV based on Tata Motors’ Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture, was recently rated 5-Star by GNCAP safety rating.

Tata Motors has launched its much-anticipated sub-compact SUV, Punch, at a starting price of INR 5.49 lakh for the Pure trim with a manual gearbox. Apart from the Pure trim, the Punch is available in Adventure (INR 6.39 lakh), Accomplished (INR 7.29 Lakh) and Creative (INR 8.49 Lakh) variants.

Prices announced earlier today are valid until December 31, 2021.

Customers have also been offered options to buy customisations packs starting at INR 35,000 for the Rhythm pack, which is available with the Pure and Adventure variants. The Accomplished trim can be customised with the Dazzel pack that starts at INR 45,000 while the top of the line Creative trim comes with the option of the iRA customisation pack starting at INR 30,000.

The Punch, which is the first SUV based on Tata Motors’ Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture, was recently rated 5-Star by GNCAP safety rating, making it the third vehicle from the manufacturer to get the top most safety rating.

Some of the key safety features of the car include extensive use of high strength steel, hot stamp BIW structural panel, advanced safety restraints components including anchor pre-tentioners for driver, crash locking tongue for front occupants and soft vehicle interior in occupant interaction areas. Along with these safety features, the SUV also comes with ABS, EBD, dual driving mode and ISOFix points as standard. 

The Punch is powered by a new 1.2 litre Revotron engine with Dynapro technology that claims to provide good low-end torque. The AMT gearbox, meanwhile, comes with Altitude Adjusted Tuning maps that help the car provide optimal power output on high altitude terrains. All variants of the Punch, apart from the entry level trim, gets the AMT option.

Shailesh Chandra, President – Passenger Vehicles, Tata Motors indicated that the SUV will be available with additional engine options, including diesel and electric, but only after consumer feedback. The company is eyeing sales of around 30,000-35,000 units of passenger vehicles per month in the coming year.
