Tata Unveils Pure EV Architecture -

Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM), at the forefront of India's electric vehicle (EV) evolution, has introduced its revolutionary Pure EV architecture - 'acti.ev,' a move set to redefine the country's rapidly developing EV market. The acronym stands for Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle, emphasising the platform's advanced capabilities.

The first product based on this cutting-edge architecture is the 'Punch.ev.' Bookings for the Punch.ev are now open, allowing customers to secure their EV by visiting Tata Motors showrooms authorised for EV sales, Tata.ev stores, or through online channels with a nominal ₹21,000 deposit.

Anand Kulkarni, Chief Products Officer at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, expressed pride in this aspirational development, emphasising the acti.ev's class-leading efficiencies, maximising space, battery capacity, and overall driving experience. The architecture, globally ready and future-facing, is designed to incorporate software-oriented features, ensuring technological advancement and future-proofing.

The acti.ev architecture is structured around key pillars, performance, technology, modularity, and space efficiency.

acti.ev boasts an optimised battery pack design with cells meeting advanced global standards, leading to a 10% improvement in energy density. This allows for multiple range options from 300 km to 600 km. The architecture supports modularity in choosing drivetrain options and facilitates fast charging, adding around 100 km range in just 10 minutes.

The second layer accommodates various body styles with a reinforced body structure meeting future safety protocols. The design maximises cabin space and storage, providing a flat floor without a transmission tunnel and an additional frunk (front trunk), enhancing cabin space for occupants and improving driving dynamics.

The architecture is future-ready with higher computing powers and ADAS level 2 capabilities. It is prepared for ADAS L2+ capabilities, ensuring advanced safety and navigation. With 5G readiness, it offers seamless connectivity and supports Vehicle to Load (V2L) and Vehicle to Vehicle Charging (V2V) technology.

Based on a scalable cloud architecture, acti.ev promises an enhanced user experience with Arcade.ev, an in-car app suite. It incorporates advanced connectivity and supports over-the-air updates for software and other features.
