Valeo announced receiving the Supplier of the Year award from General Motors in the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) category.

Jeffrey Shay, President, Valeo North America, noted that the acceleration of ADAS technology is a core focus for Valeo and “for GM to acknowledge us in this category - it’s truly special.”

The company develops software, the complete suite of sensors (ultrasonic sensors, cameras, radars, LiDARS) and computing units (domain controllers) that enable the vehicle to make the right decisions. Ultimately, Valeo’s mission is to make all mobility cleaner, safer and smarter.

Valeo has sold more than 1.5 billion ADAS sensors over the past 30 years and plans to sell more than 3billion sensors over the next five years, the company noted.

ADAS technology ranges from automatic emergency braking in the event of danger to monitoring driver alertness, maintaining the vehicle in the correct lane, adapting speed automatically and adjusting lighting, it added.
