Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, is no more. Reports indicate that he passed away following a massive heart attack in Bengaluru on Tuesday, November 29. Kirloskar was 64.

In a statement posted on its website, the company has stated: “We are extremely saddened to inform the untimely demise of Mr Vikram S Kirloskar, Vice Chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor on 29th November 2022. At this time of grief, we request everyone to pray that his soul rests in peace. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. Last respect can be paid at Hebbal Crematorium, Bengaluru, on 30th November 2022 at 1 pm.”

There was a sense of shock and disbelief among close friends and colleagues who were still coming to terms with the loss. Reactions varied from… “never thought we would lose him” to “…the strange ways the Almighty keeps reminding us of how unpredictable life is.”

Kirloskar seemed in fine spirits at the unveiling of the Toyota Innova Hycross in Mumbai last Friday on November 25. As the face of the company, he was the constant point of contact for journalists. His candid views were articulated at SIAM and CII too.
