Yokohama India has reached a landmark achievement by employing over 1000 women on the shop floors of its factories across India. This milestone underscores the company's deep-rooted commitment to promoting gender diversity and inclusivity within its workforce. With four factories in India dedicated to producing Passenger Car Tires and Off-highway tires, Yokohama is setting a new standard for the industry.

Anil Gupta, Vice Chairman of Yokohama India, expressed his enthusiasm for the achievement, stating, 'This milestone is not just a number for us; it represents our dedication to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. The presence of 1000 women on our shop floors is a testament to the strength and capability they bring to our operations.'

Yokohama's journey toward this accomplishment began with its first women recruitment drive for the Truck Bus Radial (TBR) Unit at the Dahej plant in 2018. This initiative set a precedent, establishing the TBR Unit as the first to be operated exclusively by women. 'Their contribution has been phenomenal, from handling machinery to ensuring top-notch quality control, while adhering to strict safety protocols and engaging in continuous improvement projects,' Gupta added.

They have taken on a wide array of roles within the company, excelling as machine operators, team leaders, technicians, and supervisors, demonstrating that talent and ambition know no geographical boundaries.

Yokohama's approach to empowering women includes targeted recruitment drives, comprehensive training programs, and a robust support system to facilitate their growth and success within the company. This strategy aligns with Yokohama's global mission to foster an environment where equality and opportunity are paramount, paving the way for women to make significant contributions in a traditionally male-dominated field.

As Yokohama India celebrates this significant achievement, the company continues to inspire and lead by example, demonstrating the untapped potential and invaluable contributions women can make in the manufacturing sector. This milestone not only marks a triumph for Yokohama but also signals a progressive shift towards a more inclusive and diverse industry landscape.
