Airbus Inks MoU With Gati Shakti

Airbus has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vadodara-based Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) for a partnership to aid the latter in the development of academic curricula, faculty, industrial experience, training and scholarships, and collaboration with international institutes.

GSV is a central university under the Ministry of Railways; it will collaborate with Airbus in teaching and training students to deepen their understanding of the scientific, technological, and management topics on aerospace and explore potential synergies for joint research and internship and placement opportunities for the students.

Speaking at the signing, Rémi Maillard, President and Managing Director, Airbus India and South Asia, said the company was committed to developing India as a global aviation hub and to further supporting the growth of the commercial aviation industry in the country. “A core element of the aerospace ecosystem is talent development. Under this partnership with the GSV, we will bring in our global expertise to develop the best diverse talents in India and build a strong pipeline of skilled workforce for the sector,” he said.

Airbus considers India a strategic resource hub and is expanding its industrial footprint, including aircraft assembly, manufacturing and design, and developing training and academic collaboration to mature all the building blocks required for an integrated aerospace ecosystem in the country.

Prof (Dr) Manoj Choudhary, Vice Chancellor, GSV, said the partnership with Airbus would significantly enhance India's aerospace and aviation sector by creating best-in-class talent and joint research programmes. GSV Vadodara was established through an Act of Parliament in 2022 for creating best-in-class manpower and talent for the entire transportation and logistics sectors.

Together with its supply chain, Airbus supports nearly 10,000 jobs in India. In partnership with Tata, Airbus is also building a C295 military transport aircraft final assembly line in Vadodara. Airbus has also developed pilot training capabilities in Gurgaon and maintenance training in Bengaluru.
