Ather Energy has been steadily releasing teasers of its new electric scooter the Rizta in the run up to its launch. The new electric scooter is quite important for the Bengaluru-based company as it looks to make inroads into the practical, family-oriented electric scooter space. The company is known to make big announcements and unveil new products at their Ather Community Day event and this year, on April 6, they could take the wraps off the new Rizta.

The Ather Rizta has been under development for some time now and is based on a new platform. Judging from the teasers and spy images, the Rizta appears to be much larger than the Ather 450X. This is evident from the size and shape of the front apron, the floorboard and the long seat that should accommodate two adults comfortably.

The styling of the Ather Rizta should be rather subdued in comparison to the sporty 450-series electric scooters. This is in keeping with the target audience in mind. In terms of features, the Rizta might have full-LED lights, a digital display with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation assistance.

Ather has not revealed details about the motor or the battery size but we could see them plonk a big battery to make use of the available real estate and the high range demands of a family scooter.

We expect Ather to price the Rizta somewhere between the Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 1.35 lakh range. The Rizta will go up against the TVS iQube that’s quite popular amongst buyers looking for a family EV.
