Badve Engineering, a diversified supplier of automotive systems, has entered into a strategic commercial agreement with Israeli start-up EVR Motors to manufacture EVR’s proprietary Trapezoidal Stator Radial Flux Permanent Magnet (TS-RFPM) electric motors in India.

As part of the agreement, the company has claimed to have already initiated the joint development and localisation process at one of its facilities in Pune for manufacturing the EV motors and is currently developing prototypes to cater to Indian OEMs. The collaboration will address both three-wheeler commercial & passenger vehicle markets in the L3 and L5 categories, which are poised for strong growth in India in the coming years.

The patented Trapezoidal Stator Radial Flux Permanent Magnet (TS-RFPM) electric motor is claimed to be half the weight and size of competing electric motors while providing superior power and torque performance. These motors can also be tailored to user requirements. The Israeli start-up is now developing a variety of motors, suitable for most mobility and industrial applications, it claimed. EVR's first motors are designed for two- and three-wheeler applications, as well as light commercial vehicles.

By mid-2023, the company plans to ramp up its production to an annual capacity of 0.5 million units to meet the rising EV demand, the company stated.

Sumedh Badve, President, EV Division, Badve Engineering, said, “This partnership is in line with our core vision of sustainability and net zero emissions through green mobility.”

“Together with other recently announced agreements, this partnership will expand our total addressable market to encompass the most significant OEMs in the strongest e2 vehicle market sectors in India,” Opher Doron, CEO, EVR Motors, said.
