Continental Joins IIT Palakkad For Joint Research Programme

Technical Center India (TCI) of the technology company Continental has announced that it has signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad for a three-year joint research programme.

The research project will be offered as internships to students who will be assisting Continental’s topic experts.

With an aim to develop niche skills for both parties, the collaboration will work in the areas of autonomous driving technologies, connected mobility and advanced safety solutions. Moreover, the technology company will also offer internship opportunities, design special courses and work in sync with current and upcoming industry trends to benefit IIT-Palakkad students, a release from the technology company said.  

Both the parties will research, develop, and build competencies in the focused topics such as optimising high-performance computing, simulation models for image and video processing chain for autonomous driving, autonomous mobility safety features based on human vision features, and advanced safety solutions for intelligent battery sensing module.

Further, hackathons and competitive challenges will be established for the students to make the collaboration more interactive and insightful.

Latha Chembrakalam, Head of Technical Center India, Continental, said, “With this programme, we will have a strong emphasis on joint research projects complementing automotive megatrends.”

Dr Santhakumar, Dean of Industry Collaboration & Sponsored Research, IIT- Palakkad, said, “With this initiative, we want to set a benchmark that will help us accomplish some of the unique industry problem statements while ensuring real-time technical exposure for our students.”
