The decision to halt ticket sales will disrupt its ability to raise funds and its hopes of reviving the airline. The airline used to carry around 30,000 passengers every month until March 2023.

Go First

Go First, the Wadia Group-owned Ultra Low Cost Carrier (ULCC), has been asked to stop ticket sales, on May 8, by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India’s aviation regulator, which also issued a show cause notice on why its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) should not be revoked.

For Go First, the decision to halt ticket sales will disrupt its ability to raise funds and its hopes of reviving the airline. The ULCC used to carry around 30,000 passengers every month until March 2023.

The airline has accumulated debt to the tune of over INR 11,400 crore and as a result, it applied to the National Company of Law Tribunal to start the insolvency process earlier this month.

The airline started operations as a Low Cost Carrier in November 2005, and its owners, the Wadia Group, rebranded the airline as Go First in May 2021 as ULCC.
