Gujarat CM Launches 50 JBM ECO-LIFE Buses In Ahmedabad

JBM has today launched the first batch of 50 ECO-LIFE electric buses out of a total of 180 buses that the company committed to supplying to Ahmedabad city. The bus service has been rolled out under the BRTS scheme by Ahmedabad Janmarg, which is a 100 % subsidiary of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. 

These vehicles were launched by Gujrat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani from Vastral BRTS Depot virtually via web conferencing in the physical presence of the state's Home Minister Pradipsinh Jadeja at the Depot. 

Manufactured by JBM Auto, the ECO-LIFE electric buses are powered by fast-charging lithium-ion batteries and can run up to 250 km per day. These buses will save around 1,000 equivalent tonne of carbon dioxide and 350,000 litres of diesel over ten years of operation. 

According to the company, these buses are equipped with all modern features like Real Time Passenger Information System (PIS), Panic Buttons for emergency, Automatic Bus Vehicle Location System, CCTV cameras, public address system, Stop request buttons, to name a few.

To support the fleet, the vehicle manufacturer has commissioned a state-of-the-art end to end e-mobility ecosystem at the Vastral Depot, which includes the buses, charging infrastructure, power infrastructure and maintenance as a complete solution. The company has installed a fast-charging station that will facilitate seamless bus operation across the city. It has also provisioned high-tech power infrastructure and energy management system for efficient monitoring and control.
