Hero MotoCorp has been slowly expanding its footprint in the premium two-wheeler market with the launch of motorcycles like the new Karizma. The company is now getting ready to launch the Xoom 160, its first premium scooter. While it has already been unveiled in India, we are told that Hero will launch the scooter soon, possibly in a few weeks.

The launch of the Xoom 160 will mark a significant milestone for Hero MotoCorp as it showcases a new direction taken by the company, both in terms of design as well as technology.

The Xoom 160 features ADV inspired styling, evident in the shape of the front apron with its split LED headlights, a little beak and a large windscreen. Viewed from the side, the scooter appears long and large, from the side panel towards the tail to form a cohesive design. The long wheelbase and the presence of a central spine beneath which lies the fuel tank should translate to a cavernous boot.

Powering the Xoom 160 is a 156cc, liquid-cooled engine that is said to develop 14bhp and 13.7Nm. These figures were displayed at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Expo and Hero said that they are of the pre-production model. However, we do not see a gaping difference between these figures and those of the production version, whenever it is released.

The Hero Xoom 160 should be competitively priced, around the Rs 1.3 lakh, ex-showroom mark. It will go up against the Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Aprilia SXR 160.
