With an aim to create its presence in the mass 2W commuter category, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) on Wednesday launched Shine 100 at an introductory ex-showroom price of INR 64,900 in Maharashtra.

Available in five colour options (Black with Red Stripes, Black with Blue Stripes, Black with Green Stripes, Black with Gold Stripes and Black with Grey Stripes), the new 100cc bike is said to be developed with about 12 patent applications for the enhancement of reliability..

A press release from the 2W maker said that the all-new 100cc OBD2-compliant PGM-FI engine is boosted by Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) which optimises energy output by maximising efficient combustion and minimising friction. In addition, the external fuel pump fitted outside the fuel tank reduces maintenance time as it is easily accessible. The programmed fuel injection system uses onboard sensors to constantly inject optimum fuel and air mixture, which aids consistent power output, high fuel efficiency and lesser emissions.

The piston cooling jet reduces friction and maintains optimum engine temperature. The offset cylinder and use of rocker roller arm further reduce the frictional loss enhancing fuel efficiency. The solenoid valve acting as an automatic choke system ensures a rich air-fuel mixture and provides the convenience of one time start.

Comfort & Convenience

The 677mm long seat, the optimum seat height of 786mm, the specially developed suspension unit with long stroke, a small turning radius of 1.9 meters and the uniquely designed fuel tank provide comfort for the rider and the pillion. Furthermore, the narrow leg opening angle gives the rider a comfortable knee grip. In addition, the lightweight durable steel frame contributes to overall lower vehicle weight.

Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “Shine is the most popular and trusted motorcycle brand in its category. Today we unveil Honda’s all-new 100cc motorcycle - Shine 100 which is designed and built to refortify the Shine legacy.
