The first generation Amaze, launched in April 2013, sold 2.6 lakh units till March 2018, while the second generation has sold over 2.7 lakh units.

Honda Cars India has announced that its compact sedan, Amaze, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Launched back in April 2013, the sedan has sold over 5.3 lakh units, accounting for 53% of the company’s sales.

The first generation Amaze, launched in April 2013, sold 2.6 lakh units till March 2018, while the second generation sold over 2.7 lakh units. The company noted that the car has developed strong popularity and presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets, accounting for 60% of model sales in these regions.

Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO of Honda Cars India, noted that the Amaze receives 40% of first-time buyers and has shown a growing preference for the advanced CVT automatic variants, accounting for almost 35% of the current model sales.

Manufactured exclusively in India at the company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, the sedan also caters to the export market, including South Africa and SAARC countries.

“It is a strategic premium entry model in our portfolio offering ‘one class above sedan experience’ to our customers,” Tsumura added.
