Japanese carmaker Honda Cars India on Wednesday launched the City e:HEV in the ZX guise at INR 19,49,900, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Visually, the hybrid model of the sedan can be distinguished by blue highlights for the Honda badge, new designs for the front fog lamp housing, black painted diamond-cut alloy wheels, rear diffusor, and a boot lip spoiler and the e:HEV badge. The new car is available in Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic.

Manufactured at its Takakura facility in Rajasthan, the sedan features a 1.5L Atkinson cycle i-VTEC petrol engine aided by two self-charging electric motors, one acting as the generator and the other as the traction motor, as well as an e-CVT gearbox. The powertrain’s combined output is 126PS and 253 Nm of torque, with the company claiming a fuel economy of 26 kmpl.

Furthermore, with a focus on safety, the car is equipped with the latest Honda Sensing Technology, which includes safety features such as Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Auto High Beam.

In terms of features, it is very identical to its non-hybrid version, with an 8-inch infotainment screen and a 7-inch TFT driver information cluster. However, the new City now gets a one-touch sunroof control along with LED reading lamps and ambient light.

The company has also updated the Honda Connect app, which now gets compatibility with iOS and Android-based smartwatches along with already existing integration with Alexa and OK Google.

In terms of warranty, the company is offering the new sedan with a three-year unlimited kilometres warranty while the lithium-ion battery gets an eight-year or 1,60,000 km standard warranty.

Takuya Tsumura, President & CEO, Honda Cars India, said, “Today, we embark on our electrification journey in India with the launch of New City e:HEV, reaffirming our commitment to bringing the best and most meaningful technologies to the country.”
